Administrative Assistant and Bookkeeper Job Type:
Part Time; Monday - Thursday, 9am - 2pm or 3pm if needed Summary of Responsibilities First Presbyterian Church in Kannapolis, NC is seeking an Administrative Assistant and Bookkeeper with office experience.
The ideal candidate will eagerly come alongside church staff and membership to fulfill the goals of the church, and will work closely with the Pastor and the Director of Ministry.
Primary responsibilities of the position include updating PowerChurch software; creating and designing a weekly bulletin and any church-wide communication; updating the church website, Facebook, and Instagram accounts with events; maintaining financial reports including budgets; complying with appropriate accounting standards; preparing checks; and embracing other roles and responsibilities as needed.

A Covenant Order of Evangelical Presbyterians Organized, dedicated, and self-motivated person who can work simultaneously on multiple projects Ability to act as point of contact for the church, responding to messages/inquiries through phone, email, or social media, while exemplifying friendliness and helpfulness in interactions with visitors, church members, church staff Familiarity with budgets and accounting procedures Knowledge of payroll procedures including payroll taxes and reporting Knowledge or willingness to acquire knowledge of PowerChurch software Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google products; and ability to quickly learn other online software, applications and programs as needed Familiarity with social media and ability to post information via those platforms Ability to operate office equipment (computers, copier, telephones, etc.
) Job Responsibilities Create and print a weekly bulletin and mail to homebound; print children's bulletins Create PowerPoint slides for the church sign, church displays, and YouTube intro Maintain and update website and social media with timely information Create weekly email to membership through Constant Contact application Report music to Christian Copyright Licensing International (CCLI) Regularly update Church Art calendar, PowerChurch software, and Online Instant Church Directory Responsible for mail, shipments, and deliveries Create newsletters or other church-wide correspondence, including graphic communications when requested Maintain confidentiality and ensure security of church records; regularly back up digital information; update Manual of Operations as Session requires Maintain and order supplies for the church and church office Maintain (2) AED machines and logs; order batteries or pads when dictated Ensure taxes and bills are timely remitted and accounts are reconciled Prepare checks, including payroll Record contributions and maintain the church budget Prepare monthly financial reports and assist members/church staff with budget and financial information as authorized Assist the church Treasurer and Stewardship Team as needed Ensure weekly church counters comply with appropriate accounting standards Comply with internal or external audits as requested Accountability This position reports directly to the Pastor and to the Session through the Personnel Committee.
Screening Requirements Screening requirements include a social media review, pastoral and professional references, and a criminal background check (upon acceptance of offer).
ADA Requirements Requires, vision, hearing, speech, concentration, learning, thinking, interaction with others, the ability to exercise self-control.
